All body restoration and customization was completed by Trioxin Kustoms in Stephens City, VA.  They did unbelievable work repairing years of wear, cutting in the rear windows, building custom ’59 style fins over the stock ’62 fins to give the correct profile, and meticulous body work for final paint.

Pieces for the roof rack were built by High Performance Fabrication from Linden, VA, and by
Martin Tremblay Caron from the Ghostbusters community.

The base of the Ecto-MD is a 1962 Cadillac Miller-Meteor Landau hearse.   Purchased in 2015 out of Iowa, the hearse appears to have started it’s life in Oklahoma.  With a thrown rod, it did not run when it came to CCGB.
A “new” ’62 390 engine was installed in 2016, and focus turned toward exterior restoration.

Being a landau hearse, the 1962 base was missing the rear windows that are part of the iconic Ecto-1 appearance.  We sourced a 1961 Miller-Meteor ambulance out of Texas to provide the windows and trim.

After the body work was completed in 2020, the ’62 engine suffered a blown head gasket.
The Ecto-MD now runs on an LS3, installed by Evil Mechanic in Linthicum, MD.
